Erikson's vision has influenced all contemporary theories of adult personality development. His psychological conflict of early adulthood is intimacy vs. isolation, reflected in the young person's thoughts and feelings about making an permanent commitment to an intimate partner.

Intimacy vs. Isolation: Resolved positively. Resolution of this prepares me for the middle adulthood stage, which focuses on generatively-- caring for the next generation and helping to improve society.
On June 21, 2014 I marry my husband Anthony (Tony Klever). Tony and I started dating in January of 2008, and officially moved in together in July of 2011.
Marriage: When Tony and I first become engaged in March of 2013, I can't even being to tell you how many people said "finally", as if marriage was an expectation that they had for us, regardless of our readiness. When it came time to plan our wedding, it was around convenience and what would make us happy rather than what would meet others' expectations.
Children: Since getting married, many people have begun to ask "so when are you having kids". I believe that asking someone about their plans for childbirth is not only personal but extremely nosey and presumptuous. How do they know I want to have children? How do they know if I'm not already trying? How do they know if I'm even capable. When Tony and I plan to have children, I can guarantee that we won't be letting other people in on our decision until we are ready to do so.
Career: I find that the further I get from my undergraduate graduation (and the growing number of my friends getting careers),I found myself putting a lot of pressure on myself for not having a career of a salary-paying job. It has been frustrating to not be able to contribute money to my family, and not have a career when people ask "what do you do?".
Age-graded expectations for major life events such as beginning a first job, getting married, birth of first child, buying a home and retiring.
