Early Childhood
Ages 2-6 years old.
"During the "play years", motor skills are refined, thought and lanauge expand at an astounding pace, a sense of morality is evident, and children establish ties with peers" (Berk, 2013, p. 6).
Upon discussion with my mother, I've learned that much of my development in early childhood fell within normal development.
Two of the major stressors I encountered at this time were frequent ear infections which required surgery and my father being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis around my 3rd birthday. There are several moments I remember regarding the surgery and none revolved around pain or anything traumatic. After getting tubes in my ears and my adenoids removed, I had very little issue with ear infections again. In regards to my father, although I remember not quite understanding what his diagnosis meant (I do remember then explaining it to me and my father teaching me to say "Multiple Sclerosis"), it did have an effect on the parting he was able to provide me with, and later affected me a great deal due to symptoms etc.
